What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence also known as AI is the emulation of human intelligence by machines, particularly computer systems. Examples of AI that we use are Siri, Alexa, Facial Recognition, Tesla etc. For the creation and training of machine learning algorithms, AI requires a foundation of specialized hardware and software. Python, Java, C++ all offer characteristics that are well liked by AI engineers, yet no one programming language is exclusively associated with AI.

The history of AI

  •  John McCarthy had the first AI conference and created the term “AI” in 1956.
  • In 1969 Shakey, the first all purpose mobile robot, was built. Instead of following directions, it had the ability to act on purpose.
  • In 1997, the world champion of chess was defeated in a match by the supercomputer “Deep Blue” which was created. The development of this big computer by IBM was a significant accomplishment.
  • Speech recognition, robotic process automation, dancing robot, smart homes, and other inventions have become commonplace since 2005.
  • In 2020, Baidu makes the LinearFold AI algorithm available to scientific, medical, and medical teams working on the vaccine for the early stages of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

 The Evolution of AI

Throughout the years, AI has grown tremendously at such a fast rate Early AI research focused on creating machines that could perform tasks that required human intelligence, such as playing chess or solving complex mathematical problems. In the 1980s, machine learning algorithms were developed, allowing machines to learn from data without being explicitly programmed. In the 2000s, deep learning algorithms, inspired by the structure of the human brain, were developed, allowing machines to perform tasks such as image and speech recognition at a level close to or surpassing that of humans. Today, AI is used in a wide range of applications, from virtual assistants and self-driving cars to medical diagnosis and drug discovery. The field is rapidly advancing, with new breakthroughs being made in areas such as natural language processing, robotics, and reinforcement learning.

Pros of AI

  • Less errors
  • Always available 24/7
  • Can Analyze large data sets quickly.
  • Saves labor and increases productivity
  • Personalization
  • Automation

Cons of AI

  • Reduces employment
  • Lacks creativity
  • Cost a lot money
  • Security
  • Ethical Concerns
  • Bias
